As we embark on the season of giving thanks, it is with great pride that I would like to recognize two of our Fred Craftsmen who otherwise might not get the praise they deserve. One Friday this past October, Ivan Aloras and Henry Amaya stepped out of their comfort zone of working in homes and set foot into Chesterbrook Elementary School to install a Lego Wall intended to be enjoyed by hundreds of students for years to come. This endeavor was made possible by Case’s commitment to helping serve our community in unique and creative outlets whenever possible. During the spring, the Chesterbrook PTA raised funds for the materials for the Lego Wall and Case was able to offset the costs for the installation.

Not only were Ivan and Henry tasked to install a Lego Wall for the school, but in the middle of lunchtime, no less (if you have been to an elementary school recently you know that lunch on a Friday when they are serving pizza is the busiest time of day!). With curious and wide-eyed students passing by, clapping, giggling, and squealing, these two were center stage. And if the attention of the student body wasn’t enough, there were other challenges to contend with such as the need to center the installation under the clock, which was not centered on the wall, or the challenges posed by the variable thickness of the tile and CMU (concrete masonry unit) block, or the fact that some pieces were missing. Ivan and Henry navigated these challenges like the pros that they are.

To observe the pure joy the entire school felt that Friday was something to behold and a memory I will always keep.
